Flowers in Richmond Beach

Saturday, May 9, 2026

Lee found flowers small, medium, and large! These are called kniphofia aka red hot poker.

Either lilacs or wisteria.

This rhody never stops growing. The blossoms are huge and the covers over the emerging blossoms are plentiful and sticky and happy to hitch a ride into the house with you.

Lee Lageschulte has been out walking again and found these beauties in Richmond Beach.

5-9-2026 corrected name of flowers in first photo - thank you readers

Top pic is not Indian Paintbrush. Red hot poker or Torch Lily are a couple of its names but paintbrush is a different plant.

I always enjoy Lee's photos. However, the flowers in the top picture are not Indian Paintbrush, but Red Hot Poker.

The second picture is a wisteria tree…my husband and I have trained it since it was one skinny branch years ago.

Kniphopia for sure and Wisteria not lilac. Good try though.

Those Red Hot Pokers are striking! They look almost tropical!
