'Rise up' together - Peaceful principles guide opposition to Trump actions

Gray skies, two major sporting events, and the spectre of this week's tragic violence didn't deter almost 40 area residents from participating in this past weekend's "Social Justice Sundays" sign-waving at the Shoreline-Edmonds line.

Support from passing motorists, evidenced by extended horn-honking, hand-waving, and "thumbs up," far outweighed the opposition expressed by a few "thumbs down" and one well manicured "middle finger" from a woman proving the adage "you can't judge a book by its cover."

Attendees carried signs expressing concern on a wide range of issues affected by President Trump's radical actions since re-taking office including continued fair elections; creeping fascism; slashed funding for science, health and other essential programs; due process; community well-being; and the need for peaceful action.

Both Shoreline and Edmonds police vehicles cruised through the intersection during the hour-long event, adding a welcome touch of security following a tense week.

Multitasking - cleaning the streets
while protesting
Organized by Shoreline-based Everyday Activists, additional sign-wavings are planned for every Sunday in September, 1-2pm, at the intersection of Aurora Ave N and N 205th Street.

As part of the commitment to safer, better communities for all, food, toiletry and school supplies donations are accepted for a local charitable organization at each event.

And one volunteer even brought an extra trash bag and picker and helped beautify the corner she was on during the event.

In addition to the regular Sunday sign-wavings, the next "Nationwide Day of Action" also with the theme "Rise Up" is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:30-3pm, at the Park at Town Center on Aurora Ave N just north of N 175th Street, across from Shoreline City Hall.

How does it feel to have President Trump live in your head 24 hours a day? Heck, if President Trump cured cancer you would accuse him of putting doctors out of work. I bet if said "good morning" to you lot your heads would explode.

". Sounds like you are surprised some people still think for themselves and appear to be envious of her salon.
