Sign-wavers say treat people, places and voting rights like they matter

Although one driver stopped to call an individual picking up trash left by others "an idiot" (using less "family-friendly" wording), the exuberant enthusiasm and support of most passers-by buoyed the mood of many at Sunday's sign-waving at the Shoreline-Edmonds line.

"Workers Over Billionaires"

Sixty area residents turned out for the regular "Social Justice Sundays" sign-waving at the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and N 205th St to show concern on a variety of subjects but most especially voting rights and election integrity, due process and rule of law for all, and a government that works for its citizens and not just its richest ones.

"Make Americans Kind Again"

Many also expressed hope that the country might once again look to unite itself rather than divide it, urging kindness, respect, and compassion both in our politics and daily lives.

Organized by local group Everyday Activists, sign-wavings are scheduled to continue every Sunday in August (Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30). Non-perishable food, toiletries, and back-to-school supplies will be accepted for donation to charitable organizations helping those in need.
