On the south side of Melby's Tavern was the entrance to the resort located on the west bank of the lake. It was a favorite place to swim in Shoreline. It was pricey though. It cost 50 cents to get in and then snacks. 50 cents was a lot back then because parents were reluctant to dish out the money to their kids. The bigger boys would go to the east side of the lake (near the park) and swim over to the resort bypassing the entrance fee.
