We're still nailing down some details for the event, so expect to see the RSVP page on our Class & Event calendar sometime next week. 

We're planning to sell limited presale tickets (one plus-one included), and then raffle some of them off to folks who RSVP (for free)! 

We'll also be gifting one to the person who refers the most new tool library members (more details to come).

NE Seattle & Shoreline Tool Library to expand into Lake City

The NE Seattle & Shoreline Tool Library recently partnered with the City of Seattle Government on a year-long project to manage a building for like-minded sustainable organizations and educational opportunities.

In a couple of months, this space will be transformed into “Lake City Reuse Commons”!

We’ll host classes and events, and we’ll be joined by a number of reuse-and-repair-focused organizations.

This is all possible through the Seattle Restored initiative, which aims to “revive neighborhoods with creativity and commerce by empowering our local entrepreneurs to reinvigorate our city by activating empty storefronts,” and additional funding from Seattle Public Utilities.

The hope is that this initiative will generate sufficient public interest and benefit from a circular-economy hub, enabling the city to see value in purchasing a building for Seattle REconomy and our partners.

Garden Starting Skill classes begin at the Shoreline Tool Library February 8 and Seattle Tool Library February 9, 2026

Families of Multiples, KidVantage, and Shoreline Tool Library work in partnership to support local families

Families of Multiples Seattle has worked with KidVantage Shoreline for years, donating unsold items from their twice yearly consignment sale (see previous article)

After the sale, sellers take their unsold items home or donate directly to KidVantage.

KidVantage collects new or gently used clothing, gear, toys, and more throughout the year. They have hubs in Shoreline, Bremerton, and Issaquah. 

They provide essential care, safety, and health goods for children who are experiencing the stresses of economic insecurity, systemic inequities, or family disruption.

Please note: KidVantage hubs are not accepting donations during the month of October, but they will resume accepting items on November 1, 2025. 

During this break, the NE Seattle and Shoreline Tool Library is still collecting donations for KidVantage.

Visit the Shoreline Tool Library for thousands of tools, bikes, art supplies, & baked goods. Any offer accepted for tools and art supplies!

Not only will there be thousands of tools for sale, but we’ll have several bikes, a bake sale, and art supplies! 

There will also be a special offer for new and renewing members of our tool libraries (NE Seattle Tool Library & Shoreline Tool Library): A 15% off coupon for our Reuse Materials Store at the Shoreline Tool Library!

If you’re looking for a good deal on a popular tool or the best selection of our bikes, we recommend getting to the Tool Sale early. If you aren’t a fan of lines but still want some good stuff, stop by around midway through the event to avoid the morning crowd. If you just love collecting tools and want the best deal on whatever is left, come by during the last hour (2–3pm) because everything will be free!

Categories of tools available include power tools, landscaping, hand tools, electrical, painting, plumbing, kitchen, building materials, and so much more available for ANY price! 

• $20 for a lawn mower, no problem.
• $10 for a leaf blower, you got it.
• A handshake for a socket set? Just make sure there’s eye contact, and it’s a deal!

Presale Tickets & Ticket Raffle: 

This year, we’re getting the line moving early with 11 presale tickets (one plus-one included)! 10 of these tickets will be for sale at $50 each, with proceeds directly supporting the nonprofit Seattle REconomy tool libraries. 

If you RSVP (for free) to this event and check the “Yes please!” box at checkout before 10/3 at 9am, you will be entered into a raffle to win a presale ticket.

We will email the presale ticket winner on 10/3 around 9am. Presale ticketholders (and their optional plus-one) must arrive between 8:30–8:45am and present their digital (or printed) ticket to use their presale ticket.

We’ll also be having a raffle for a $50 gift card to our Reuse Materials Store! It is $3 each or 2 for $5 and 5 for $10. The winner will not need to be present for the drawing, but their email or phone number must be legible on their raffle ticket. You can enter the raffle from inside the Shoreline Tool Library at the front desk.

Parking and Transportation Information: There is some free parking available behind the Shoreline Tool Library. If you are okay with parking and walking, Car Tender has opened up their parking lot, and we are pretty close by to some neighborhood parking (please be respectful of people’s driveways, etc.). 

We’ll have space for folks to hold their things while they retrieve their car, so you don’t have to walk all the way back to your car with your new finds.

If you’re taking the bus, we are served by King County Metro bus Rapid Ride E Line on Aurora Ave N and N 165th. The Shoreline Light Rail stations are each about 2 miles away. You may also bring your own bike lock and park your bike in the bike sale area directly behind the Shoreline Tool Library. We are one block west of the Interurban Trail.

Spring Tool Sale at the Shoreline Tool Library May 31, 2025

Get your tool belts ready because Seattle REconomy is hosting their Spring Tool Sale on May 31, 2025 from 9am–3pm at the Shoreline Tool Library 16610 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline, WA 98133.

All offers on tools, art supplies from Seattle ReCreative, and baked goods will be happily accepted. They’ll also have an inventory of used bikes available at a fixed price. With storage overflowing, this is looking like their biggest tool sale yet!

Categories of tools available include power tools, landscaping, hand tools, electrical, painting, plumbing, kitchen, building materials, and so much more available for ANY price!

• $10 for a circular saw, no problem.
• $5 for a shovel, sure.
• A knowing nod for a screwdriver? As long as it’s sincere, it’s a deal!

There will also be coupons for 15% off their Reuse Materials Store, which is located in the Shoreline Tool Library, for all new members of their tool libraries!

Becoming a tool library member is easy, and it can be done online or in-person. There are recommended donation options, but they do not deny anyone based on income or place of residence, and no proof of income is required. 

Seattle REconomy operates the Shoreline Tool Library and the NE Seattle Tool Library, which have a collective inventory of over 10,000 tools. They also have resources like a Woodworking Workshop, Bike Shacks, seed libraries, a Reuse Materials Store, game/toy/puzzle libraries, and 3D printers. 

Tool library members get access to both tool libraries and all of their resources. Every week, they also have different classes and events with varying topics from home maintenance and gardening to sewing and fixing. You can read more about joining their community here.

During the Tool Sale, folks will also be able to enter a raffle for $1/entry. The prize is a $50 gift card to the Reuse Materials Store in the Shoreline Tool Library. Winners will not need to be present for the drawing, but their email or phone number must be legible on their raffle ticket.

Shoreline Tool Library offers more than tools

Seattle REconomy’s Shoreline Tool Library is expanding into more than just a tool library. Patrons already can borrow various tools, ranging from pressure washers and power tools to catering and event items. 

The space also features a Reused Materials Store, which aims to divert materials from the landfill, reduce the consumption of new items, and save people money by offering salvaged goods at a very low cost. The items Shoreline Tool Library accepts will now expand to many other areas of the circular economy.

Starting January 14, 2025 the Shoreline Tool Library is partnering with Furniture Repair Bank, KidVantage, and Seattle ReCreative to accept small furniture, children's goods, art supplies, and other limited items. You can find a curated list of items they accept on Seattle REconomy’s Redistribution Partners webpage.

Because of a very generous grant from King County Solid Waste's RE+ program, Shoreline Tool Library will also be open more hours starting January 2, 2025. 

For 2025, the library will be open for 30 hours per week instead of its usual 12. The new hours are Monday through Friday from 3 to 8pm and Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

This increase in open hours will help support Seattle REconomy’s new partners and the people who benefit from them by allowing for a larger donation window. 

Although the Shoreline Tool Library will serve as another donation site for these organizations, they will only be accepting a limited range of donations.

If you aren’t sure about your donation, you can fill out their Materials Donation Form with details and photos of the items you wish to donate so they can let you know if they can accept them. 

They strongly encourage you to drop off donations because their pickup capacity is extremely limited. If you need them to pick up your items, they can coordinate a donation pick up for a fee.

All accepted donations are eligible for a tax refund using their Tax Receipt form.
As their hours increase, they are looking for more volunteers! If you or anyone you know is interested, please check out their form.

Shoreline Tool Library celebrates Circular Mondays with deals at their Reuse Store

Instead of Cyber Monday, the Shoreline Tool Library is partaking in #CircularMonday by reducing prices on materials by 50% and tools by 25% at the Reuse Materials Store at the Shoreline Tool Library. 

This movement was started by Henning Gillberg in Sweden to promote renting, repairing, and reusing items instead of letting them go to the landfill!

Together, we’ll be celebrating every Monday until the end of the year, so come on by the Shoreline Tool Library Materials Reuse Store, get a fantastic deal on second-hand tools and materials, and help us get one step closer to a circular economy!

It’s time to start collecting all those items around the house that need to be fixed but you don’t know how. 

We are having a fixing night at the new Shoreline Tool Library. 

We will help you fix and learn to fix your broken tools, lamps, toys, furniture, appliances, and any other broken items that you can carry in on your own. 

We encourage you to help as much as you can and enjoy the community of reuse!
