Mountlake Terrace Grocery Outlet one-year anniversary event August 8, 2026

As the Mountlake Terrace Grocery Outlet approaches its one-year anniversary on August 7, I asked owner Racheal Harmon to reflect on the store’s first year.

First of all, the store is celebrating in a big way on Aug 8.

Racheal said, “It’s been such an amazing year! We have an exciting day planned for our one-year anniversary! We’ll be giving reusable bags to the first 100 customers, and from 10:00am to 4:00pm we’ll have our Spin the Wheel with over $500 in gift cards and prizes to give away.

“Throughout the day, we’ll also be surprising customers with random acts of kindness by paying for their groceries, and Diamond Knot will be on site sampling their root beer.

“We are also giving away a 2 minute shopping spree!

“Most of all, we’re excited to celebrate with the community that has supported us from day one, and we hope to see lots of familiar faces along with some new ones!”

Question and Answer Time:

Q: What’s the accomplishment you’re most proud of after one year?

Racheal: “Without a doubt, it’s becoming part of the Mountlake Terrace community. Opening a new store is one thing, but earning the trust and support of our neighbors is something we’re incredibly grateful for. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with local nonprofits, sponsoring community events, supporting our schools, helping food banks, and getting involved whenever we can. Knowing we’re helping our neighbors stretch their grocery budgets while making a meaningful difference in our community is what makes us the proudest. Every dollar our customers save is a dollar they can put toward their families, and every dollar they choose to spend with us allows us to give even more back to Mountlake Terrace.”

Q: Are there any new products, services, or events you’re excited about?

Racheal: “One of the things that makes Grocery Outlet so much fun is that there’s always something new to discover. Every week we’re bringing in exciting products, incredible bargains, and unique finds that keep shopping fresh and unexpected. The week after our one-year anniversary also happens to be Grocery Outlet’s 80th anniversary! 

We’re currently giving the store a fresh new look with updated signage, colorful aisle markers, and new branding that we hope makes shopping even easier and more enjoyable. Beyond that, we’re most excited to continue growing our community involvement. Whether it’s supporting local organizations, participating in city events, fundraising for our nonprofit partners, or finding new ways to give back, we’re committed to making an even bigger impact in our second year.

Q: If you could thank every customer in one sentence, what would you say?

Racheal: “Thank you for welcoming our family into Mountlake Terrace and choosing to shop local. Your support means so much more than simply shopping at our store. Because of you, we’re able to create local jobs, invest in community partnerships, support schools and nonprofits, sponsor events, and give back to the place we all call home. Every purchase allows us to reinvest in this incredible community, and we are truly grateful for the trust and support you’ve shown our family over the past year.”

One year down, and the store’s place in the community already looks strong.
