Vendor applications open for the 2nd Annual Greenhouse Winter Market November 14-15, 2026

Thursday, July 9, 2026

It may seem early to be thinking of the holidays just yet, but if you’re a small business creative/maker/retail team, it’s definitely already begun.

Sky Nursery is SO excited to be hosting this new Shoreline Community tradition once again. It was a joy and an honor to be a part of last year's market, where dozens of vendors were able to share unique, handcrafted goods and community members helped gather literal TONS of food and financial support for Hopelink’s vital nonprofit work.

It was, in a word, galvanizing. This year will hopefully be no different and we look forward to seeing you there, in one way or another.

Application is here. If you have questions, please hit up Shoreline Farmers Market , they’re doing the incredible work of weaving together vendors, farmers and food trucks.

Michaels Arts & Crafts acquires Jo-Ann Fabric and is opening the store in Shoreline

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

By Diane Hettrick

Early in 2025 after a bankruptcy filing failed to resolve the financial issues at the national chain of Jo-Ann Fabrics, they filed for a second bankruptcy and shuttered 500 of their 800 stores nationwide, including the store in Shoreline at Parkwood Plaza 15236 Aurora Ave N

The store has been the "go-to" place for crafters, quilters, and sewers for decades.

Shortly thereafter the rest of the 800 stores were closed.

On June 5, 2025 Jo-Ann's intellectual property and private label brands were acquired by another iconic crafting store, Michaels Arts & Crafts, including the development of the beloved Big Twist® brands as part of the Michael's portfolio.

The brick and mortar properties were not part of the deal.

However, Michaels does have the old Jo-Ann's building in Parkwood Plaza and is preparing to open this year. They are currently renovating the building and hiring staff to set the store up.

Michaels is expanding its fabric, sewing, and yarn assortment, adding over 600 products across new and existing brands, including sewing and quilting supplies, fabric, yarn, specialty threads, sewing machines, and more.

The acquisition and expanded product assortment reflect progress as Michaels continues to reimagine the customer experience to become the go-to destination for fueling creativity and celebration.

About the Organizer: Erin Cox of Field and Forest Crafts

Erin found her life's passion in basketry and wild crafting. Although she has lived in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years, it wasn’t until she discovered the joy of farming and foraging basketry materials that she truly formed deep ties to this place and a meaningful connection to the land.

Through weaving, Erin has found a new way to explore and appreciate the biodiversity of the Pacific Northwest. She began casually teaching basketry and wild crafting in 2024.

The same year she established a small basketry willow farm in Carnation, Washington, where she invites students to learn, harvest, and engage directly with the materials they weave. In 2025, she opened Field and Forest Crafts and her own private teaching studio in NE Seattle.

Listening to Magic Key Ukulele Band

ShoreLake Arts said "rain or shine" for their outdoor market on the street in the Ridgecrest business district on November 22, 2025. Fortunately for all, the rain held off.

Dressed for the weather and having a wonderful time

Canopies were up and everyone was dressed for the weather and having a wonderful time.

Checking out purchases and listening to the Magic Key Ukulele Band

The crowds varied, sometimes filling the street and sometimes leaving lots of room to sit on the street and listen to the musicians.

Mariah Fraser took a break for coffee - and to admire
a friend's purchase
Co-hosted with Drumlin and Ridgecrest Books, the street musicians were Mariah Fraser and Magic Key

Part of the Magic Key Ukulele Band talking to the crowd

Magic Keys exuded enough energy to warm the whole street.

"Washington Moments" tote bags and art prints

Some vendors braved the elements, while others were inside ShoreLake Arts and Drumlin.

Lake City Cooperative sold their hand crafted decorations

ShoreLake Director Laura James said "Thank you to the over 2,000 artists, makers, and neighbors who came out to our first outdoor arts market. It made our heART full to see the community connect with each other to support local art and small businesses."

People strolled the street

"We noted ways to make it easier in the future but hope you still had a wonderful time.  See you next time! Spring/Summer? Winter Bavarian type market?"

Some danced to the music

Sponsors were City of Shoreline, City of Lake Forest Park, Ridgecrest Neighborhood Association, Shoreline Chamber of Commerce, 4Culture, Jack Malek, Windermere, and Renewal by Andersen.
