How roundabouts work

Multi-lane roundabout? Choose your lane before you enter.

A key difference with multi-lane roundabouts is that you need to pick the right lane before you enter.

As you approach:
  • Slow down and look for signs and pavement markings.
  • Choose your lane based on where you’re going.
  • Yield to all traffic already in the roundabout, including vehicles in the inside lane that might be exiting.
  • Enter when there is a safe gap.
Once you’re inside the roundabout, don’t stop or switch lanes. Keep going and use your turn signal when you’re ready to exit.

Remember, signs and pavement markings are there to help you. Follow them instead of making a last-minute lane change.
