RJ Perna got a preview of Autumn when he visited Sky Nursery.

Note the beautiful blue sky in the background. No signs of wildfire smoke.

However, the sunset was a mixed message. The sun is yellow (good) but the sky is gray (suspicious). There still many be smoke in the atmosphere.

Waterfront in Shoreline is a bit challenging to access - parking and walking down to the beach - but it can be worth it for the sunset views.

Definitely a purple mountain majesty - and a Salish Sea is just as good or better than a fruited plain.

Sunset after a cloudy day

Tuesday, November 11, 2025

Bright daylight at 5:30am - pitch black at 5:30pm. Clear skies. High clouds with grayish light. Low solid clouds with almost no light. Never know what it will be like from one hour to the next.

But then a beautiful sunset.

Everchanging sunset and clouds

Monday, September 1, 2025

Three of my regular photographers sent in sunset photos from Sunday evening, which tells me that it was fairly spectacular.

Photo by Lee Lageschulte shows the dividing line in the clouds
as they change shape from Barbara's photo to Jan's photo

What always amazes me about the sunset photos I get is how very different they are from moment to moment. Location of the photographer along our part of Puget Sound doesn't matter, but the time matters very much.

These three photos show the progression as the sun sets and the clouds move.

And this evening the clouds were the headliners - "puffy clouds and crepuscular rays." said Barbara.

The final photo from Jan Hansen was after the sun went down and the clouds had moved northeast.
