Food Drive Saturday June 27, 2026 Richmond Beach Congregational Church

Friday, June 26, 2026

Food drives are critical in the summer because many children lose access to free or reduced-price school meals when classes end. This massive surge in household food needs quickly drains local pantries, which historically receive far fewer donations during the summer months than during the winter. Our quarterly food drive is more important than ever.

Please join us in helping our neighbors by dropping your donations off this Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Drive thru…upper parking lot.

These items are particularly needed:

 Low sodium, no sugar added, packed in water or juice
 Pop-top cans are appreciated, not everyone has access to a can opener
 Canned vegetables: green beans, peas, corn
 Canned fruit (any variety)
 Canned chicken
 Canned tuna
 Coffee (instant or ground)
 Shelf-stable milk
 100% fruit juice (no sugar added)
 Brown rice
 Whole-grain pasta
 Long-grain rice
 Spices (salt, pepper, sugar)
 Flour
 Pancake mixes
 Condiments
 Dry black beans
 Dry red beans
 Oats

Give Blood BEFORE it's needed - Friday June 26, 2026 at Shoreline Covenant

Wednesday, June 24, 2026

By Tom Petersen

The 4th of July weekend is coming up, and, unfortunately, people are known to overdo it . . . right in the middle of the usual low point for blood donations.

Bloodworks has issued a "Code Red," with supplies low and appointments dropping off. They're hoping to see lots of donors on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Shoreline Covenant Church, 9am to 3pm, 1330 North 185th Street, Shoreline 98133.

Blood is something that can't be replaced by technology or substituted by artificial means. Shoreline needs YOU.

Giving blood takes only an hour or less, and the need is constant. The #1 way people start giving blood is by following the examples of friends and family, so experienced donors are encouraged to bring along a new prospect. New donors can also buddy up with each other!

People aged 16 or 17 and over 125 pounds can donate with written permission from a guardian; everyone needs photo ID.

Appointments are recommended; go to www.bloodworksnw.org or call 1-800-398-7888. Walk ups are welcome on a space available basis; Friday's drive has a large capacity so it should be no problem.

Berean Bible Church of Shoreline welcomes all to Easter Services

Friday, April 3, 2026

Berean Bible Church of Shoreline welcomes all to Easter Services

Featuring three events beginning with Good Friday Tenebrae Service on Friday evening, Easter Sunday Fellowship early Sunday morning with food and fellowship during a special Bible Exploration Hour, and the main Easter Worship Service following a casual coffee and hot chocolate just prior to the worship service.

All are welcome.

GOOD FRIDAY TENEBRAE SERVICE: This year on Good Friday, Berean will be offering a Tenebrae Service, April 3, 2026 at 7:00pm. Tenebrae is the Latin word for 'shadows' and memorializes the increasing darkness facing Jesus on the way to the cross with a combination of candles, scripture reading, hymns, and songs. The room will grow dark, but one lit candle of hope will remind us that 'Sunday is Coming'. This is a powerful and impactful service to invite family and friends to participate.

EASTER SUNDAY FELLOWSHIP: We will hold a special Bible Exploration Hour in the gym from 9:15-10:30am on Easter, April 5. This gathering will be a wonderful opportunity for fellowship. It will be a perfect setting to connect before our Easter worship service begins at 11:00am.

Over 2,000 years ago, the most life-changing event in history occurred: Jesus Christ's resurrection. The Apostle John tells us why he wrote about it— “that you may believe.” The resurrection isn’t just ancient history; it’s an invitation to a new life!

Where do you stand with Jesus today? Perhaps following Him feels costly because of your reputation or relationships.

Maybe you have believed your whole life, and Easter is the best news you know. Or you might be curious about who Jesus really is, or uncertain if you can trust any of this.

Maybe you carry shame and fear. The disciples who witnessed the resurrection struggled with these same issues. And yet, they found courage, joy, faith, and forgiveness.

Wherever you find yourself, this story can change everything for you, too.

“We hope you will join us for Easter services, or sometime in the future”, stated Pastor John Spooner. “Berean is a welcoming church that is focused on Bible-teaching with a well-balanced ministry for the entire family and all age groups.”

Berean Bible Church is at the corner of N 185th and 1st Avenue, just east of Meridian Ave North (2345 N 185th St, Shoreline) and has been serving the community for over 60 years.

Episcopal Church of the Redeemer: Immerse yourself in Holy Week and Easter

Saturday, March 28, 2026

The people at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore, Washington, invite you to immerse yourself into Holy Week and Easter as you are able.

Find community. Contemplate the important things. Experience true joy.

Our worship services are open for all to experience:
  • All races.
  • All religions.
  • All countries of origin.
  • All sexual orientations, including LGBTQ+.
  • All genders.
Church of the Redeemer is at 6220 NE 181st Street in Kenmore, Washington. The Episcopal Church welcomes you.

The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday (March 29, 2026)

We recall Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem and Jesus’ Passion on the cross this day. Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week. We will read the Passion Gospel with different people taking different parts.

Attend at either 8:00am (simpler service) or 10:30am (music, palm procession).

Wednesday in Holy Week or Spy Wednesday (April 1, 2026)

In the New Testament account of Holy Week, after Palm Sunday, the Sanhedrin gathered and plotted to kill Jesus before the feast of the Passover. On the Wednesday before his death, Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the Leper. As he sat at the supper table with his disciples, a woman named Mary anointed Jesus’ head and feet with a costly oil. The disciples were indignant, asking why the oil was not instead sold and the money given to the people lacking resources. Judas Iscariot wanted to keep the money for himself. After dinner, Judas went to the Sanhedrin and offered to deliver Jesus to them in exchange for money. From this moment on, Judas sought an opportunity to betray Jesus.

The only service is at 12:00 noon. It is a simpler service.

Maundy Thursday (April 2, 2026)

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday in Holy Week. It is part of the Triduum, or three holy days before Easter. The name comes from the Latin mandatum novum, “new commandment,” from John 13:34.

Church of the Redeemer does have the optional washing of feet at this service. No one is required to have their feet washed. However, if you plan to participate, wear shoes and stockings that are easy to remove and replace.

The first service is at 12:00 noon. The later service at 7:00pm has music with the stripping of the altar for Good Friday.

Following the stripping of the altar, we invite you to spend an hour watching with Jesus in the garden during the Gethsemane Vigil from about 8:30pm to 9:30pm. "Then [Jesus] came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, 'So, could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak'” (from Matthew 26).

Good Friday (April 3, 2026)

Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Day, on which the church commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus. It is a day of fasting and special acts of discipline and self-denial.

There is a service at 12:00 noon and at 7:00pm.

The Great Vigil of Easter (April 4, 2026)

This liturgy is the first and primary celebration of Easter. If you can only make one service for Easter, this is the one to attend.

The service begins in darkness sometime after sunset. It consists of four parts:
  1. The Service of Light.
  2. The Service of Lessons.
  3. Christian Initiation (Holy Baptism) or the Renewal of Baptismal Vows.
  4. The Eucharist.
We start in darkness at 8:00pm with the lighting of the new fire. Hear salvation history. Sing psalms, canticles, and hymns. Rejoice with the announcement of the Resurrection of Jesus! This service takes about 2 to 2.5 hours, but it is worth it to be immersed the joy of our salvation.

The Sunday of the Resurrection, or Easter Day

Church of the Redeemer has two services to rejoice in the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Day. There is a simpler service at 8:00am. Then there is a festive service at 10:30am with music and joy.

Episcopal Church of the Redeemer

Church of the Redeemer is at 6220 Northeast 181st Street in Kenmore, Washington. The campus is a short distance north of Bothell Way, near the Burke-Gilman Trail. The entrance looks like a gravel driveway. The campus is larger on the inside than it is on the outside. And we managed to hide a large building on the side of a hill that is not easily seen from the street.

Family caregiver support program

Saturday, March 21, 2026

Are you caring for someone who is ill?

If so, you are offering an incredible service—but often at a high personal price. Caring for people with major physical and/or mental illnesses is far more difficult than most people realize. Caregivers are amazingly generous people who offer physical help and emotional and cognitive support to people in need, often 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are often physically and emotionally drained, typically working alone with minimal recognition of their profoundly valuable service.

The Surrogate & Caregiver Support Team at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church knows that caregiving is an arduous task that creates needs for emotional support and good ideas about how to deliver quality care. We deeply appreciate all that caregivers do and are offering support and a free service through a Caregivers Wisdom Workshop in which they can share the valuable lessons they learn and profit from the experience of others.

Richard Stuart, psychologist currently serving on the staff of Swedish/Edmonds Hospital, will lead the group as a lay person rather than in his professional capacity. The CWW is not a therapy group, although participation may have a therapeutic effect. It is also not a training program, although participants may learn new skills. They will meet weekly online via Zoom with one optional in-person meeting each month.

If you would like to join this group, or know someone who might benefit from it, please contact us by email to: surrogateandcaregiversupport@shorelineuu.org
