Shoreline Firefighters held their annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday to the delight of families and young children

Monday, April 1, 2024

Shoreline Firefighters Association held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

It was open to all local children, age 1 -10. It was a bring your own basket and the eggs are on us event.

Area and times were sorted by age and supervised by firefighters to make sure all went smoothly.

It was definitely a high-energy event.

It may have been a bit overwhelming at first, as these littles worked to absorb and sort all the goings-on.

Children were encouraged to come in costume and many did.

The absolute joy at being able to sit behind the wheel of a giant fire engine!

The fire cadets were part of the work crew, hauling in supplies, and probably helping to distribute eggs on the hillside.

Traditional Easter Service at Berean Bible Church of Shoreline is open to all

Friday, April 7, 2023

On Sunday, April 9, 2023 Berean Bible Church will offer Easter service for the 59th year. The service is open to anyone, especially from the Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and surrounding communities. Pastor Nathan Killion will present the Easter sermon based on the book of Luke titled "Walking With Jesus."

"When we first meet two of Jesus' followers on the road to Emmaus, they're sad, hopeless, and unbelieving. By the end of the story, everything has changed! As we gather together to celebrate that Jesus is alive, I pray that you will be encouraged as we look at how our Savior graciously enters into our lives, walks with us, and invites us to be on a mission with Him. He is risen!"

The Easter service will begin at 11:00am. Children's Church is available.

"Every Sunday when our church gathers is a chance to celebrate the redeeming work of God, but Easter is always extra special," stated Associate Pastor Gary Hansen. "During our 11:00 a.m. service, we'll have great activities for your children and an encouraging message of hope and joy for all. We are excited to have you join us."

Nathan and his wife, Jessica, are former missionaries to Thailand. Now, they serve with The Navigators, a disciple-making ministry that shares the gospel of Jesus and helps people grow in their relationship with Him. They are members of Berean, where Jessica works part-time as a Ministry Assistant, and Nathan volunteers with the College and Career ministry."

Berean will also hold the Good Friday service with an added feature. Laura Barron of the international organization, Jews for Jesus, will provide a unique presentation on "The Exploration of the Passover, the Last Supper and your Communion Experience." Good Friday service is at 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday morning, the Men's Fellowship will feature Jeff Adams, a retired career firefighter of 26 years, who, with his wife, Connie, climbed mountains in Europe and the Swiss Alps when Jeff wasn't holding down firefighter duties. Jeff will share stories of his life journey as a firefighter, husband, and father, along with stories of their mountain climbing and his faith. The men gather at 8:00am and adjourn by 9:15am. Youth are also invited. For information about the Men's Fellowship, call 206-351-5888.

Easter services at Berean Bible Church begin with a special Good Friday program

Wednesday, April 5, 2023

Good Friday services at Berean Bible Church of Shoreline will offer a special opportunity to experience God’s ancient story of redemption through this Christ in the Passover event.

The church will host Laura Barron of Jews for Jesus, who will provide a unique presentation on “The exploration of the Passover, the Last Supper, and your Communion Experience.”

"We look forward to a great evening together as we reflect on the final Passover meal Jesus ate with his disciples and remember God's incredible love for each one of us,” stated Associate Pastor Gary Hansen. “We would love to have those from the community join us for this special service.”

The Good Friday service will be on April 7 at 7:00 p.m. All from the community are welcome, regardless of whether Christian, Jewish, or simply curious. Childcare will be provided for children 4 and under.

Laura Barron of Jews for Jesus will be coming from her home in Toronto, Canada, where she has lived with her family since they were deployed there from South Africa in 1996. She and her husband were the first permanent overseas missionaries of Jews for Jesus when they served in Johannesburg in 1989.

In addition to serving on the staff as a vocational worker, she is the leader of the Haredi Women’s ministry team.

This will be her first time presenting this program in our area.

“This is my first visit to the Shoreline and Seattle area, where I’ve been able to drive around this beautiful state. During this extended speaking tour, I’ve been able to hike in Yakima and drive over two breathtaking mountain passes,” stated Laura. “My sister lives in south King County,” she continued, “and this is the first time I’ve visited her new home. I’m awestruck by the pristine and peaceful views in Washington!”

“I’m excited about the opportunity to share this “Christ in the Passover” presentation with the Shoreline and area communities, she continued. It’s a privilege to connect with the people here and trace God’s plan of redemption throughout the Scriptures together. What a blessing to meet people here and enjoy their warm hospitality!”

Easter Week at Church of the Redeemer: April 2 Palm Sunday

Saturday, March 18, 2023

On the Sunday before Easter, we invite you to recall Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and Jesus’ Passion on the Cross.

It is known as Palm Sunday or the Sunday of the Passion.

This is the first day of Holy Week. Worship services are at 8:00am and 10:30am on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Church of the Redeemer, 6210 Northeast 181st Street, Kenmore, Washington.

The pilgrim Egeria witnessed the observance of Palm Sunday in Jerusalem in about 381-384. There was a procession of people down the Mount of Olives into Jerusalem waving branches of palms or olive trees. They sang psalms, including Psalm 118, and shouted the antiphon, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” We will re-enact this procession as we start our worship.

After the Liturgy of the Palms, the service changes abruptly from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem to the solemnity of the Passion.

For more information, visit our website, call +1 (425) 486-3777, or email office@redeemer-kenmore.org. The Episcopal Church welcomes you.

Easter Week at Church of the Redeemer: April 6 Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday in Holy Week.

It is the first part of the Triduum, or three holy days before Easter.

Worship services are at 12:00 noon and 7:00pm on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Church of the Redeemer, 6210 Northeast 181st Street, Kenmore, Washington.

The name “Maundy” comes from the Latin phrase mandatum novum, “new commandment,” from John 13:34. The ceremony of washing feet was also referred to as “the Maundy.” This also commemorates the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus “on the night he was betrayed.”

The 7:00pm service will include the washing of feet (optional for everyone) and the stripping of the altar to prepare for Good Friday. This is followed by a Gethsemane Vigil for about an hour: Can you watch with me for one hour?

For more information, visit our website, call +1 (425) 486-3777, or email office@redeemer-kenmore.org. The Episcopal Church welcomes you.

Easter Week at Church of the Redeemer: April 7 Good Friday

The Friday before Easter Day is Good Friday, the day the church commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus. It is a day of fasting and special acts of discipline and self-denial.

Worship services are at 12:00 noon and 7:00pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Church of the Redeemer, 6210 Northeast 181st Street, Kenmore, Washington.

In the early church candidates for baptism, joined by others, fasted for a day or two before the Paschal feast. In the western church, the first of those days eventually acquired the character of historical reenactment of the passion and death of Christ.

For more information, visit our website, call +1 (425) 486-3777, or email office@redeemer-kenmore.org. The Episcopal Church welcomes you.
