On Thursday, November 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Shoreline College and the Suquamish Tribe will host Roots & Relations, a community celebration honoring Indigenous cultures and traditions.

A highlight of the event will be the raising of the Suquamish Tribe flag, a historic milestone that will make Shoreline College the first community or technical college in Washington State to permanently fly a Tribal flag on its campus.

The event is free and open to the public.

Event Schedule
  • 4:00 p.m. – Flag-raising ceremony with the Suquamish Tribe
  • 4:30 p.m. – Proclamation from the City of Shoreline
  • 5:00-7:00 p.m. – Community celebration featuring:
    • Free traditional dinner
    • Storytelling with Suquamish Elder Barbara Lawrence
    • Performance by the Haandei I Jin Dance Group
    • Indigenous vendors
    • Community resources
We invite the community to join us for this historic occasion as we welcome the Suquamish Tribe to campus and celebrate Native American Heritage Month together.

The event reflects Shoreline College's ongoing commitment to honoring Indigenous communities and putting our Land Acknowledgment into action.
