North City Business Association's 24th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Festival and Toy Drive December 2, 2023

Monday, November 27, 2023

We at North City Water District look forward to this special moment every year— when hundreds of colorful lights in the shape of a giant Christmas tree suddenly light up the night sky, installed by our crew on top of our 3.7 million gallon reservoir.

As always, this festival offers fun for the entire family, including live music, sing-along carols, warm beverages, tasty Christmas cookies, and photos with Santa Claus... but there's something extra this year:

The Center for Human Services is conducting a Toy Drive!

If you are able, consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to donate on the night of the event.

Here are a few ideas:
  • Infants: plush animals, sensory and developmental toys
  • Children ages 3-10: books, science kits, Legos, puzzles, games, soccer balls or basketballs, art kits / supplies, dolls, plush animals
  • Teens: sports equipment, board games, science kits, art supplies, gift cards for clothing or music stores
We hope to see you all there!

Les Schwab at NE 180th St and 15th Ave NE in North City on Saturday December 2, 2023 starting at 6:30pm

Thank you to this year's generous Sponsors:

Toys for the littlest ones
After a scare when the fire department had not been able to collect enough toys for all the children in need in Shoreline Public Schools, the community responded.

These are very popular
From Shoreline Fire:

Last week our community stepped up to our plea! We were able to help parents and caregivers pick out gifts for 1352 total children!

This definitely wouldn’t happen without your hearts to help others!

Volunteers checking last minute details
Thanks to all those that volunteered throughout this season to make this happen!

Special thanks to our partners - Dale Turner YMCA, Shoreline PTA Council 6.12, local Shoreline PTAs, LFP Rotary, City of Shoreline City Hall!! And to our local businesses - Frank Lumber and Hardware, Employees of Costco and Fred Meyer who helped bridge the gap financially!

Toy Drive almost at goal - books and Legos needed - one more day

Friday, December 13, 2019

Shoreline Fire is at 95% of goal for toy drive

With only Friday left to collect toys, Shoreline Fire is at 95% of their goal.

Thank you for all the support on Go Fund Me and walk-in toy donations. Toy and cash donations accepted through Friday at our fire stations.

They are especially in need of books and legos.

With only Friday left, the best way to help is to take toys or financial donations to one of the stations.

The GoFundMe site is still live. The Amazon Wish List is closed now.

The event, which is part of the community-wide Holiday Baskets event, will be held on Saturday. Families will be given food, and toys for the 579 children who are registered for the event.

The event still needs a lot more volunteers for Friday and Saturday. Skills, training, and experience are not necessary for most of the jobs - just the ability to lift and carry - and maybe bring your own hand truck.

Here's the sign-up list.
