Shorewood Tennis has a winning week - five out of five

Shorewood boys varsity tennis team

Shorewood boys' tennis completed a great week of tennis matches with 5 straight wins.

The week was started with an improving Lynnwood team on Monday the 21st. The SW boys defeated Lynnwood 7-0.

They traveled on Tuesday to challenge the first-place Wesco North league team, Snohomish.

Shorewood is in first place in Wesco South league. A match between two league leaders. The match was close as both coaches anticipated, with Shorewood winning 4-3.

On Wednesday the 23rd, the Shorewood team hosted league rivals, Edmonds-Woodway. Shorewood had too much depth in their lineup for EW. Shorewood defeated Edmonds-Woodway 6-1

In the morning match, Shorewood hosted a non-conference match versus 4A Curtis HS from the South Puget Sound League in Tacoma and won 7-0, then met non-conference, WIAA 1A State Champions Overlake HS of Bellevue, in a matchup with WIAA 3A State Champions Shorewood, Shorewood defeated Overlake 6-1.

The team was led by their senior captains, Reid Bley, Drew Johnson and Seb Sanchez. 

Outstanding comeback match of the day was number two Shorewood doubles team Zachary Gordon and Elliott Marter comeback win over Overlake, at number 3 doubles. Shorewood’s doubles teams were outstanding all day with consistent groundstrokes, accurate serving and a strong volley net game. The Shorewood doubles teams swept all matches over Curtis and Overlake.

Shorewood number 1 singles player Seb Sanchez, returning 7th in state award winner, led the singles with a strong overall game and defeated Curtis and Overlake opponents.

Shorewood travels to Shorecrest on Monday September 28, 2026 for a matchup between first and second place. Shorecrest has a very talented team that has only one league loss versus Shorewood. Matches' at Shorecrest Courts, located at Kellogg Middle School campus, 16045 25th NE start at 3:30pm

The week for the Shorewood boys' team was successful as they improved the overall record to 10-1 and 6-0 in Wesco South league.
