There are currently 13 large active fires burning in the Pacific Northwest. Those fires – 10 in Washington, three in Oregon – are affecting close to 75,000 acres.
At least six of the wildfires in Washington were recently started by lightning.
Current firefighter resources in the Northwest: 1,465 firefighters and support personnel; 57 engines; and 16 helicopters.
As wildfire season continues, please stay alert and follow local fire restrictions. Every action counts in reducing human-caused fire starts.

For all the fires that are human caused it seems we could elevate the level of consequence through heavy fines for fireworks and criminal charge/prosecution for those convicted of starting the fires through negligence or intent. Very greatful for our hard working fire crews !
