Junior Natalie Skonier added a personal-best 22:41.1 with her sixth place finish in the front pack. Freshman Rosalie Vandervoort (25th, 23:56) rounded out the scoring five resulting in a win for the Shorecrest girls JV team.

Jaden Robertson broke 18 minutes with a personal-best 17:58 to lead the JV boys in eighth. Shorecrest finished fourth among 11 scoring teams, with all five scorers recording personal bests.

We are especially proud of all our JV athletes as they finished the regular season strong and the fact that 20 of Shorecrest's 24 JV boys and 13 out of 16 JV girls posted personal bests at this championship race.

And we are very excited to see what our varsity athletes do in the postseason next week at the District meet, held at Lakewood High School, 17023 11th Ave NE, Arlington, WA 98223, October 31, 2026 starting at 11am. Come cheer them on as they race to state.

Shorecrest Cross Country Team
before the Twilight Costume Race

By Lisa Muilenburg

On October 3, 2026, Shorecrest attended the 18th Annual XC Twilight Invitational at the Memorial Golf Course in Everett, WA. While resting many of our top varsity athletes who traveled to major invitationals over the last two weekends, we featured our up-and-coming young runners. They truly stepped up to the challenge!

The Women's varsity race was led by three of our more experienced runners—Delilah, Nicole, and Harper—who set a strong pace for the group. The entire team finished within one minute of each other, resulting in 5K personal bests for Natalie, London, Gillian, and Dayana.

In the Men's JV Freshman/Sophomore race, all eight of our athletes achieved season or personal bests. In the Women's JV Freshman/Sophomore race, nine out of ten runners also set a season or personal best.

Congratulations to all of our athletes, and thank you to everyone who participated in the costume run at twilight. We are excited for the promising continued growth of the Shorecrest program.

Shorecrest's next race is the Mountain Loop Invitational at Granite Falls High School on October 10, 2026. Come out and support our Scots!

The rain and wind were relentless but so was Shorewood XC. A few personal records were broken on a slick course, and Shorewood will be represented well at the State Championships in Pasco this upcoming weekend.

This is back to back to back years that the Boys and Girls teams have qualified for the State meet in the same year and before that the first time since 1984 in the same year.

Three of fourteen Shorewood runners ran new personal bests over a 5k course that was slick and in parts soggy.

Congrats to Max Billett for winning and defending his individual NW District 1 Championship winning with a time of 15:47.9. Max has now won the NW District 1 Individual Title the last two years.

Running new personal bests were Eli Graves and Isaiah Schuelke!

The Shorewood Boys placed six runners in the Top 18 and as you may be able to put together, with those outstanding efforts the Boys team secured the NW District 1 Regional Title, a 4-peat making them back to back to back to back Regional Champions and returning to the State meet!

The Girls team placed 2nd as a team, placing six in the Top 26 to make their return to the State meet for back to back to back years.

Running a new personal best was Olivia Decker.

On the boys side the Top 28 individuals and Top 4 teams qualified for the State meet and on the girls side the Top 35 individuals and Top 5 teams qualified for the State meet. NW District 1 (Regionals) is comprised of 15 3A schools from WesCo North, WesCo South, and Northwest Leagues.

Next weekend, Shorewood will be heading to the WIAA State XC Championships in Pasco. This is no trick but such a treat!

The Shorecrest cross country team had great success in The Mook meet in Tillamook Oregon on September 20, 2025 competing against approximately 80 other teams, many of which are very high ranking in the region.

Our runners far exceeded all hopes and expectations for this race with 26 out of 37 athletes running personal bests in the 5k distance!

Our top three boys in the elite category were freshmen! Two of them broke the previous Shorecrest freshman record for the 5k distance with times of 16:20 and 16:28 and the third boy ran a time of 17:46. All three boys have been a great addition to the team and have an exciting future ahead.
