Fall 2019 Create and Make Workshops registration now open

Join the Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council on Wednesdays this fall to explore new artistic mediums and techniques in five exciting workshops led by professional, local artists.


Workshops are $40 each (or $175 for all 5), or if you are an Arts Council member or become a member, workshops are $35 each (or $150 for all 5) and are held from 6:30 – 8:30pm in the Shoreline Lake Forest Park Senior Center at 18560 1st Ave NE, Shoreline, WA. All materials are provided, all you need to bring is your imaginative spirit!

The series kicks off on Wednesday, September 11 with Zentangle® Opaque Media Designs with Laurie Bell. Create an abstract art piece using the Zentangle method. 

Zentangle® is an easy way of creating beautiful images by drawing structured patterns called tangles.

Printmaking for the Season with Jess Graff – September 25

Printmaking

Join this fun and engaging printmaking workshop to design, carve, and print your own linoleum block stamps. 

Techniques for safer carving and joyful creation will be discussed. 

Design your own cards or other beautiful graphic images, and take your carved blocks home to continue exploring this engaging art form!

Silk beaded jewelry

Silk Beaded Jewelry with Meredith Arnold – October 9

Explore color and pattern while creating silk beads to make your own unique jewelry. 

Create a necklace or bracelet from your custom beads and wear them home! 

The shimmer of silk combined with simple painting techniques and layering colors and patterns makes for beautiful results. 

Design your own as a gift or to enjoy for yourself.

Paper Quilling


Participants will learn about Dia de los Muertos celebrations by creating a Sugar Skull Paper Quilling. 

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, curled, twisted, otherwise manipulated, and glued together to create decorative shapes and designs. You will have access to reference books related to Dia de los Muertos for inspiration.

This exciting workshop includes color theory introduction, several paint application techniques, and paint layering to complete a work on stretched canvas. 

Discover the fluid nature of acrylic paint pouring and how to design a unique piece. 

You will be inspired to make one or several works of art for gifts for the season or to keep for yourself.
