First time I've noticed a sapsucker of any kind here. One field guide says these birds are only rarely seen in parks and residential yards, so hey, lucky photog!!

These woodpeckers excavate cavities in trees for nests, and in subsequent years other species, themselves unable to so excavate, get free lodging:)
