Found: motor vehicle key FOB on the Light Rail Train

Thursday, August 10, 2023

Found! Photo by Ernie Moy
About a week and a half ago, a key FOB was left on a seat in a Lynnwood Link light rail car headed for Seattle.

Conscientious Shoreline resident Ernie Moy tried to turn it in.

"Staff at the Northgate deck did not want to accept the FOB incase owner should arrive to claim them. They suggested I give them to Transit security.  They (security) did not want it."

If this is yours, contact us at Editor@ShorelineAreaNews.com with the date and time you might have lost your key.

Scammers prey on owners of lost dogs

Sunday, June 18, 2023

Scammers are preying on the heartstrings of owners with lost pets.

Scammers are searching social media sites for ‘lost pet’ posts, contacting the pet owners, pretending to be with an animal shelter that’s found their pet - and requiring owners to pay over the phone to get them back.

These scammers even know how to spoof the callback number of pet shelters, so don’t be fooled!

This scam has been reported in Everett, Lake Forest Park and Edmonds

If your pet gets lost and someone calls you claiming to be from a shelter that has your furry family member, hang up and call the animal shelter they claim to be with, directly.

PAWS in Lynnwood

Both Shoreline and Lake Forest Park use PAWS for shelter services along with Edmonds, Kenmore, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, and Woodinville.

Gordon Snyder: There are Good People in my Neighborhood

Saturday, May 20, 2023

The Horizon View Park photo
that Gordon sent to his friend
Story and photos by Gordon Snyder

There are Good People in my Neighborhood. Here’s my simple proof…

A few days ago Shoreline Area News published a photo i made at Horizon View Park. The photo is full of spring green colors, trees budding out and a picnic table.

After taking that photo, my dog Charlie and I walked up to that table and I sat on the bench. Charlie just sniffed around.

I wanted to send the Horizon View Park photo to my friend Steve in Anchorage because he was moaning that Spring hadn’t arrived there yet.

I took my cap and sunglasses off while I sat there editing the photo and the text sent. Then we wandered off thru the park.

When Charlie and I headed for a walk the next afternoon. I grabbed my cap but my sunglasses weren’t nearby. No Big deal. We wandered off to our adventures.

Gordon has been wearing these glasses for years.
Over the next week, I looked everywhere for my sunglasses. I’ve been wearing them for years. I looked in cars, around the house, my office, all my pockets and packs, etc. I thought maybe I lost them at Rite-Aid or Safeway.

After a week, I was convinced they were lost. Doesn’t everyone hate losing something? Argh!

Time to shop for another pair….

But, more importantly, time for Charlie and me to head out for a walk, so we headed to the Horizon View park.

Could it be the lost sunglasses?
Wandering along our usual park sniffing paths, I spotted something sitting on a picnic table.

Hmmm… As i walked closer, that something looked like sunglasses. Went over to check them out.

Unbelievable! My sunglasses were sitting there. Yep it was them.

It seems that over the week the sunglasses were lost in the park grass. The grass was mowed.

Yes!
But... someone had found the glasses before mowing and left them on that table for days until I spotted them.

Think about this... nobody took them while they sat on the table waiting for me to wander by and find them.

Unbelievable!

Thank You Neighbors for Making My Day.

Missing dog may have been spotted in Shoreline

Sunday, January 9, 2022

Storm is an Alaskan Klee Kai - a mini-Husky
A long-missing dog may have been spotted in Shoreline recently, near Costco at N 200th St.

On August 28, 2021, Storm was in a fenced yard in the Mount Baker area of Seattle, with his owners and their 9 day old baby in the house. Someone let him out of the yard, possibly the group of kids who then chased him as far as Franklin High School on Mount Baker Blvd.

His owners Jessica and Troy have been looking for him ever since. In the process, she has become an expert on lost dogs and how to find them.

Storm is wearing a black and teal harness
Storm is a distinctive looking dog. He is an Alaskan Klee Kai (mini husky), and he is wearing a black and teal harness.

She has had tantalizing clues, as reports have come in, leading her search northward.

Someone may have spotted him at the Shoreline Costco (Aurora and 200th) on Jan 1, 2022 around 2-2:30pm.
They say they saw a tiny husky who was curious but scared and when approached it ran across 200th toward some apartments. She said she was certain the dog was wearing a teal harness which is what my dog was wearing when he went missing.

FOUND: Lost dog is wandering through north Shoreline

Saturday, January 1, 2022

Zoe is lost in north Shoreline
UPDATE: Zoe has been found and reunited with her owner.

Original story:

Her name is Zoe and she has been away from her home in Ridgecrest since Friday, December 31, 2021. She was home alone and the owners suspect the fireworks scared her.

She is an Australian cattle dog / blue heeler.

Posts on NextDoor and other social media sites have followed her progress from Ridgecrest to North City.

Then across the freeway at 185th to the Echo Lake neighborhood and there we lose the trail.

She was last identified at 2:45pm Saturday, January 1, 2022 and was thought to be headed west on 185th.

She is microchipped but not wearing a collar. She is extremely friendly and answers to her name. She is going up to houses, napping on protected porches, and accepting food. But then she moves on before her hosts can figure out what to do with her.

Zoe at 2:45pm on Saturday on 185th west of I-5

If you live in any of the north Shoreline neighborhoods - Echo Lake, Meridian Park, North City, maybe even Hillwood or Ballinger if she was brave enough to cross busy streets - please take a look outside in the protected areas outside your house.

The owners' number is (removed). Call anytime and they will come pick her up.

If you see her, contact Editor@ShorelineAreaNews.com or post on NextDoor.

-Original story-

"Fell off the back of a truck" used to have an entirely different meaning (stolen goods) but in this case it's literal.

Reader Lisa watched these items fall off the back of a truck and caught it on video. She also stopped to pick everything up.

She will return the items to the owner if they call her, identify the contents, and show up in the same vehicle.

Happy ending - Stolen goat returned to owner

Monday, May 21, 2018

Rescued kid
At 5am Monday, Seattle resident Jens Melin found a baby goat tied to a pole at a school near where he lives.

"It was shaking and terrified." He said the rope was long enough that it could graze but since the owner reported that it hadn't yet been weaned, that probably wasn't helpful.

Jens took it home, put it on his deck, and started asking friends on Facebook what he should do with a goat.

It didn't take long to discover our story.

Jens tried to call the number provided but it was blocked. So he and the goat got in the car.

"We only had the cross streets. When we got out to start knocking on doors the goat started yelling. The owner heard him and there was a satisfying reunion."

Stolen
UPDATE: Kid found and returned. See story.

This beautiful little kid was stolen from a home at NE 145th and 6th Ave NE around 3am Sunday morning.

The owners heard him screaming and looked out the window to see him being carried to a car by what might have been a girl, wearing a hoodie.

He is likely crying from not only being alone but also because he was not yet weaned from his mother.

If you see him or have any information or if you notice that one of your neighbors suddenly has a goat, please call 206-483-5439. There is a $1,000 reward for his safe return.

Saturday, May 19, 2018

14 year old went on
"an adventure"
A 14 year old Shoreline boy terrified his parents by deciding to go off on "an adventure."

They woke up Friday morning to find his bed empty. He left a note saying he was going to be "on an adventure for 1 to 2 weeks max."

Police went on alert. Parents and friends set up a Facebook page with photos and physical description and shared it extensively. Flyers were being distributed.

Fortunately, the publicity worked.

He was found a little before 4pm the same day, in Edmonds, by someone who had seen his picture on Facebook and called the police.

His parents said "We have him now and will be home soon. Thank you so much to everyone who shared and looked for him. Your love and support means everything. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
