LFP City Council to Consider Positions on Three Statewide Initiatives September 24, 2026
Tuesday, September 15, 2026
The Lake Forest Park City Council will hear public comments and consider whether to support, oppose, or take no position on three statewide initiative measures during its regular meeting on September 24, 2026, at 7:00pm.
The measures are:
- IL26-001 — Parental rights regarding their children in public school. This measure would reverse the Legislature’s 2025 changes to the parental rights law and reinstate provisions on student records, parental notifications, and options for opting children out of certain instruction and activities.
- IL26-638 — Participation in athletics at K–12 schools. This measure would restrict eligibility for school athletic competitions designated exclusively for female students to biological sex and require health care provider verification for participants.
- IP26-645 — State and local taxes. This measure would repeal the 9.9 percent tax on annual individual income exceeding $1 million and prohibit state and local taxes on or measured by individual income.
The Council will consider each measure separately and may take different positions or choose not to take one.
Please review the September 24 Regular Meeting agenda, when available on the City’s website for meeting details and supporting materials.
