Climate Book Bingo

Light and community can prevail even in a world where societal infrastructure disintegrates during a time of rapid climate change.

Climate Book Bingo was created by LFP in Action Book Club and we hope all who are interested will play. One suggested book is The Light Pirate, by Lily Brooks-Dalton.

It is a fictional book that traces the life of a child born during a devastating hurricane, and the resulting changes in Florida as the years pass. 

The book group met recently to discuss the novel. Some had strong connections to Florida and the experience of hurricanes, others commented on the decisions people make when hit by disastrous events, and whether to stay or escape your homeland. 

We noted the role of community and fear when surviving under extreme circumstances. 

The group unanimously recommends the book.

Plans are afoot to award prizes for completed Bingo cards at our January event at the Lake Forest Park Climate Hub.
