Echo Lake is toxic again - Do not swim, wade, fish, or enter the water

Based on results from 7/21/2026, Echo Lake currently has microcystin level above the threshold and has been placed under a Danger Advisory by King County Public Health.

Echo Lake is closed.

Do not swim, wade, fish, or enter the water. Toxic algae can cause serious illness and can be fatal to humans and pets.

Would getting rid of the various lawns at houses and apartments around the lake help reduce the blooms? Seems like they get worse every year, even though the duck/bird population seems smaller.

Perhaps it needs to be drained, filled with dirt and covered over. This way we can stop wasting time and money on it and remove a hazard.
