Kayden Carpenter works from the top in this match
from the Shoreline Invitational

It was Senior Night for Shorewood Tuesday night, but the visiting Glacier Peak Grizzlies walked away with a tough 40-28 victory.

With the match beginning at 182 pounds, Glacier Peak used two pins and a forfeit to pull out to an early 18-0 lead. Shorewood responded with two quick pins from Erca Erdenebayer and Rhaye Samson to close the gap to 18-12.

The Grizzlies won four of the next five matches to stretch their lead to 36-16. Senior Erik Harris-Uldall bumped up a weight class to 145 pounds and kept the Thunderbirds mathematically alive with an 8-1 decision. Unfortunately, a win at 152 pounds sealed the visitor's team victory. Seniors Kaden Carpenter and Braden Kalloway closed the night for the Thunderbirds with victories in the last two matches.

Shorewood wrestles next this Thursday, January 29, at Meadowdale High School. This will be Shorewood’s last dual meet before the district tournament February 6 and 7 at Edmonds High School.
