Shorecrest boys play host to Marysville-Getchell Tuesday after victories over Glacier Peak and Lynnwood

The Shorecrest boys’ basketball team takes a 3-1 Western Conference 3A record (3-2 overall) into a home game against Marysville-Getchell Tuesday, after victories last week over Glacier Peak and Lynnwood.

Shorecrest and Marysville-Getchell (0-5 Wesco 3A. 0-7) play at 7:15 p.m. at Shorecrest, in the Scots’ final pre-holiday game, with junior varsity teams from the two schools meeting at 5:40 and “C” teams playing at 3:45.

In Shorecrest’s 63-55 home victory over Glacier Peak Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Scots took a 30-25 halftime lead and held the lead in the second half. Junior Chibuogwu led Shorecrest with 26 points, followed by Joe Ghebrehiwot with 14. The Shorecrest junior varsity defeated Glacier Peak 49-39 and the Shorecrest “C” team lost 52-47.

In Shorecrest’s 64-47 victory at Lynnwood, Thursday, Oct. 15, the Scots took a 29-23 halftime lead and led 38-32 after three quarters before pulling away in the fourth quarter. Chibuogwu led Shorecrest with 31 points, followed by Keith Shattuck with 13. The Shorecrest JVs won 68-40 and the “C” team won 42-36.

Chibuogwu leads the Scots in season scoring with 106 points in five games for a 21.2 points-per-game average.
