World Concern staff are safe following Easter Day attacks in Sri Lanka

World Concern staff in Sri Lanka are safe and accounted for following a series of explosions in churches and hotels on Easter Sunday.

At least 290 people were killed and more than 500 injured by a series of eight explosions.

World Concern is grieved over these vicious attacks, and staff around the world are praying for the victims and families.

“The work of World Concern in Sri Lanka remains unhindered,” said Mark Estes, Asia Area Director for World Concern. “These incidents remind us of our calling to serve a broken world by offering God’s redemptive love to the poor and marginalized and those who suffer as a result of these attacks.”

Selina Prem Kumar, Sri Lanka Country Director for World Concern, asks for prayer for peace, especially through memorial services on Tuesday, and that there are no acts of retribution.
