Boys' game was nip and tuck all the way at Hoopapalooza

Sunday, January 26, 2014

When the Scots (4-5 in WESCO, 10-6 overall) and T-Birds (4-5, 9-7) boys faced each other in  mid-December, they couldn’t have been more evenly matched, with the T-Birds winning 61-60 in overtime at the Scots gym.

Saturday night the Scots returned the favor, only this time in regulation.

The game was nip-and-tuck all the way, tied fourteen times. With four minutes to play in the game, the T-Birds took the biggest lead of the night at 43-38.

But the Scots finished on a roll, outscoring their westside foes 12-6 down the stretch, with Hofstrand hitting the second of his fourth quarter threes with six seconds left to play. He finished with 12 points, while teammate Masamba Njadoe led the Scots with 14.

Zane Hopen was the T-Birds leading scorer with 16, while Taylor Freeman had 12.

Shorecrest will enjoy some home cooking this week, hosting Glacier Peak on Tuesday and Oak Harbor on Friday.

Shorewood travels to Meadowdale and Mountlake Terrace, also on Tuesday and Friday.
