Portage Bay Big Band packs The Commons

The Commons at Lake Forest Park was packed on Saturday night, as the Portage Bay Big Band filled the house with listeners, diners, and dancers.

Twenty-five to thirty couples filled the floor and danced to every number, occasionally dancing out into the aisles. Many were local people who come regularly to dance at The Commons. Others are band followers, who go from venue to venue with the band.

Looking dapper in their red and black outfits, the Portage Bay Big Band played with a smooth, professional sound all the top hits of the 1940s.

Several hundred people took advantage of the many restaurants at The Commons to go dining and dancing on a Saturday night.
