Happy Anniversary to the LFP Climate Hub. It has been a year since the official opening the LFP Climate Hub.
Come to the Climate Conversation, learn about the history of salmon and salmon recovery. After the presentations there will be cake celebrating the first anniversary.
The digital mapping / storytelling will be part of the presentation There will be a sneak peak of the first digital StoryMap. It will show how salmon in our streams are affected by changing stream temperature, removal of streamside tree cover, and residential and commercial development.
Ken Feathers began to work with the LFP Climate Hub as a volunteer scientist. He used his mapping skills to put the Lake Forest Park salmon story on an archGIS platform. He researched salmon history and used maps to tell our salmon story. He will be one of the panelists at the Climate Conversation talking about the project.
Ken will be joined by Prof Jeff Jensen, a UW biologist. Jensen is working to reintroduce Kokanee Salmon into Lake Washington and McAleer and Lyon creeks. Jensen is imagining our streams filled with the “little red fish” again.
