Shorecrest boys tennis wraps up its season with an 11-1 record and a share of the WESCO South title
Friday, October 9, 2026
This has been a special group of players, and everyone on the team has contributed to our success in one way or another. We had a lot of close matches this year where we had to battle for every point, stay focused, and find ways to win when things weren't going our way.
I'm really proud of how our players handled those pressure situations and how they continued to support each other throughout the season. In the end, all that hard work paid off as we finished league play with an 11-1 record and earned a share of the WESCO South title.

Mihai Stransky had a rematch against Stephen Valmayor, who is a very tough opponent, but Mihai found a way to quietly dominate the match. His precision from the baseline was incredible and put a tremendous amount of pressure on Stephen throughout the match. Stephen hit a ton of great shots, but it seemed like Mihai was able to cover the entire court, get to just about everything, and somehow stay on offense. Mihai's consistency and ability to control the points were impressive as he came away with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Lleyton Hoy played Gabe Kurniawan at #2 singles. Gabe came out strong with an incredibly powerful serve and dominant forehand, but that didn't seem to faze Lleyton. Lleyton has a way of always getting one more ball back than his opponent. Even when he feels like he isn't playing his best tennis, he still manages to outlast just about everyone he plays. He is in incredible shape and has the ability to stay focused and dialed in no matter how long a match goes. Lleyton forced Gabe to play a ton of tough points, and by the end of the match, Gabe just didn't have much left in the tank. Lleyton came away with a 6-1, 6-3 win.

Miles Garbaccio played Sam Cho at #3 singles and did what he seems to do best, roll right through his opponents. Today was no different. Miles has an incredibly high shot tolerance, making it extremely difficult for Sam to win points against him. Miles’ consistency from the baseline was just too much for Sam, allowing him to cruise to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Jasper Dahl took on Praise Ngo at #4 singles. Jasper was full of energy today and played some of his best tennis of the season. He hit a ton of heavy topspin shots from both wings with plenty of net clearance, pushing Praise deep behind the baseline on multiple occasions. Jasper also served exceptionally well and kept Praise on defense throughout much of the match. He ripped quite a few groundstroke winners and came away with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Moses Klein and Kaden Strang played Carlos Brown and Takuma Ostergaard at #2 doubles. Moses and Kaden have really stepped up their game over the past week, moving from exhibition matches into the starting lineup. A big part of their success has been their consistency and how well they work together as a team. They support each other on every point and do a great job of staying positive and focused. Moses hit a ton of great serves today, while Kaden was really consistent with his groundstrokes. They played a solid match and came away with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

They worked really well together and kept the pressure on Andy and Logan throughout the match. Keane and Winston came away with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
