Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and the right to protest are among this nation's core values.

Standing up for those rights and other important founding principles like the rule of law are what keep a dedicated band of sign-wavers showing up every Sunday to the Shoreline-Edmonds line, even as the president villifies or tries to prosecute those who protest government actions or document ICE abuses.

This past weekend 44 area residents showed up to up express concern for others in the community and for free and fair midterm elections in the face of unprecedented threats of interference from President Trump and other officials at the regular sign-waving at Aurora Avenue North (Hwy 99) and N. 205th St.

Organized by Everyday Activists (committed to peaceful, non-violent action), "Social Justice Sundays" Sign-waving is held at that intersection every Sunday, 1-2pm. Feel free to join in and borrow a sign or bring one that speaks to a principle, problem or policy that matters to you.

As always, non-perishable food, personal care items, and school supplies will be collected for donation to a local organization helping those in need.
