WeatherWatcher: High Wind Warning, Worst of storm is over

Monday, November 13, 2017

Power and internet at our offices has been offline for most of the evening. Regular news will resume once utilities are restored.

The High Wind Advisory was upgraded to a High Wind Warning this morning. The worst of the storm has passed, the peak of the winds occurred between 5PM and 7:30PM. Wind gusts from Shoreline stations were low, from 33-39mph however most of these stations are sheltered by tall trees. Edmonds and Seattle saw gusts generally between 60-70mph, one report from the Queen Anne neighborhood recorded a gust of 72mph. Other Seattle locations between downtown and Shoreline also saw gusts in the upper 60's.

As of 9PM Seattle City Light reports about 5700 customers without power in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.

This will be a storm that goes into the history books.
