WeatherWatcher: two storms approaching

Monday, January 16, 2012

At 8:11 pm Monday, January 16th, 2012, the National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Winter Weather advisory for the greater Seattle area, this includes Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.

The winter advisory is in effect until 4 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Cool and unstable air is moving into the region tonight generating snow showers that can be locally heavy. Snow accumulations of 1-3 inches are possible.

A winter storm watch remains in effect for Tuesday night through Wednesday night. A much more significant storm is moving in from the Pacific and may not mix or changeover to rain until Wednesday night. Some forecast models suggest we could receive over a foot of new snow fall with the storm on Wednesday.
