WeatherWatcher: Wind advisory during Sunday

Sunday, January 22, 2012

National Weather Service in Seattle issued a Wind advisory for the Puget Sound lowlands, this includes cities of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.

The Advisory was issued at 2:36 PM January 22, 2012 and is in effect until 10 PM this evening.

Winds will increase early this evening, South winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45 MPH possible.

Winds this strong can snap small branches and cause local power outages. The ground is also heavily saturated so some small or shallow rooted trees may get knocked over as well.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30-39 mph or gusts of 45 - 57 mph are likely.
