NPAC's Celtic Christmas centers on storytelling, December 17 in Bothell

Monday, December 6, 2010

Storytelling is the heart of  Tomáseen Foley's A Celtic Christmas, which will play at the Northshore Performing Arts Center (NPAC), 18125 92nd Ave NE in  Bothell, on Sunday, December 19 at 7 pm.

Storytelling was once the most admired of all the Celtic arts, and A Celtic Christmas is unique in being the only nationally touring show with storytelling at its center. Storyteller/Director Tomáseen Foley was born on a small farm in the remote parish of Teampall an Ghleanntáin in the West of Ireland.

Foley reflects, "When I was a child it was around the fireplaces of my neighbors' thatched cottages that I experienced the last remnants of the old communal way of life. The family was the center of the community then, and the community was the center of life itself, the shining axle around which the great wheel of the universe revolved. Stories, music, song and dance were the spokes of that slowly turning wheel."

Joining Tomáseen Foley in A Celtic Christmas are a group of talented "neighbors" - dancers and musicians who bring their fiddles, whistles, flutes, uilleann pipes, and bodhrán to the celebration.

Ticket prices are Adult $25, Senior $22, and $15 for Youth under age 17.
Tickets are available online or by calling the NPAC Foundation Ticket Line at 425-408-7988.
