LFP Towne Centre loses two major tenants

Friday, September 3, 2010

Lake Forest Park Towne Centre has lost two major tenants, both due to poor economic conditions.

As reported in the ShorelineAreaNews on August 2, budget cuts at the college level have forced Shoreline Community College to curtail and refocus its continuing education. It has closed its extension campus in LFP and will focus on work retraining, business seminars, and automotive training, all of which are associated with outside funding. See article Budget Cut Hit Shoreline CC.

Gold's Gym in LFP managed to stay open just four months longer than the Shoreline location, (see article) which closed in May. The closure at LFP on September 10 will leave many customers high and dry as the next closest locations are Bothell or 97th and Aurora in north Seattle.

One group of friends who were long-time patrons of LFP Gold's in a Senior Fit exercise class have been unable to find a local, affordable place for their group of 12 to continue their class as a group.

Member Jo Moore says "Our class has been going for several years, with about 12 regulars ranging in age from 60s through several in their mid eighties. We've become good friends and hate to give up this fun exercise and camaraderie."

Sadly, the group has already started to break apart, as members choose different options for their exercise.
