Shorewood boys off for 10 days after 61-56 overtime victory over Meadowdale

The Shorewood boys’ basketball team takes a 6-1 Western Conference 3A record (9-2 overall) into a 10-day break after a 61-56 overtime victory at Meadowdale Tuesday.

Shorewood next plays Friday, Jan. 13, at home against Lynnwood.

In Shorewood’s 61-56 overtime victory over Meadowdale, the Thunderbirds led 14-10 after the first quarter, 27-21 at halftime and 44-36 after three quarters before the Mavericks used a 19-11 fourth-quarter run to tie the game at 55-55 at the end of regulation time, but Shorewood outscored Meadowdale 6-1 in overtime for the 61-56 victory, Josh Hawkinson led the T-birds with 20 points, followed by Semir Kadiric with 19 and Taylor Freeman with 13. The Shorewood junior varsity defeated Meadowdale 49-44.

For the season, Hawkinson leads Shorewood in scoring with 163 points in 9 games for an average of 18.1 points per game. Kadiric has 134 points in 11 games for an average of 12.2 points per game.

The Shorewood junior varsity and “C” teams play Saturday at Ballard, with the Shorewood junior varsity (4-4 overall) playing Ballard at 1:30 p.m., with the “C” game at noon.
