What makes a neighborhood feel comfortable? Most often it is the familiarity of the landscape, the comfort of home, and neighbors connecting with neighbors.

Placemaking is a word used to capture both a physical location people might gather - a bench, coffeeshop, community garden, or plaza - and activities that bring people together such as walking, gardening, sharing chores, exchanging food or tools or conversation or care.

The concept of placemaking is a citizen-driven process of creating places and opportunities for connection. If you are a Shoreline resident who longs to make your neighborhood a memorable, wonderful place, the upcoming Placemaking Workshop is for you.

Wednesday evening, April 30, 6 – 9pm
City Hall at 17500 Midvale Ave N

Individuals or groups of neighbors are encouraged to attend. The workshop is free, but limited to the first 50 participants. RSVP by Monday, April 28 by email or phone 206-801-2218. Participants will be invited to bring a dish to share in the potluck.

This fun and high-energy workshop will include a potluck working dinner, fascinating placemaking concepts, inspiring case studies, and ample time to share and process your ideas.

If you are creative, passionate, or simply curious about improving the function of local area with “lighter, quicker, cheaper” placemaking projects, come to the workshop and collaborate with like-minded neighbors.

The Placemaking Workshop is brought to you by the City’s Economic Development and Neighborhoods programs.
