Josh Hawkinson and Semir Kadiric combined for 28 points as Shorewood knocked off third-ranked Mountlake Terrace, the state's only remaining undefeated Class 4A or 3A boys’ basketball team, 55-54, Saturday night.

The defeat ruined what had been a perfect season for Terrace (19-1 overall, 15-1).

Hawkinson, a 6-foot-9 center, hurt the Hawks inside with 15 points, seven blocks, six rebounds and three steals. Kadiric, a 6-6 forward, added 13 points, three rebounds and two steals for Shorewood (16-4, 13-3).

Terrace advances to next week's district tournament as the No. 1 seed. Shorewood finished tied with Shorecrest for second in Wesco 3A, but took the No. 2 district-tournament seed on a tiebreaker.

The Thunderbirds got Wesco's No. 2 tournament berth despite having the same record as Shorecrest and splitting head-to-head meetings because the Thunderbirds had a victory over the No. 1 team.

Shorewood opens Northwest District 3A tournament play at home Wednesday against Wesco No. 5 Oak Harbor (7-13, 7-9 Wesco 3A).

The top three Western Conference 3A teams – Mountlake Terrace, Shorewood and Shorecrest -- and the No. 1 Northwest Conference 3A team – Mount Vernon -- play their first-round games at home, with the Nos. 4-6 Wesco teams and the No. 2 Northwest Conference 3A team playing on the road.

Shorecrest (16-4, 15-3) will play host Wednesday to the No. 2 Northwest Conference 3A team, either Ferndale or Sedro-Woolley.

In Shorewood’s 55-54 victory over Mountlake Terrace, Shorewood trailed 15-14 after the first quarter and 34-32 at halftime but took a 45-44 third-quarter lead and held the lead through the final period. Hawkinson led Shorewood with 15 points followed by Kadiric with 13, Gage Carroll with 10 and Ben Andrews with 8.
