Shoreline PTA Council Recognition Event

The Shoreline PTA Council, representing the 15 member PTAs in the Shoreline School District, held its annual recognition event on Monday, April 26 at the Shoreline Center. Honored were those who had been awarded the Golden Acorn for volunteer service to their PTA, and the school professional honored by each PTA with the Outstanding Educator award.

The Shoreline PTA Council awarded the Council Golden Acorn to Jim Talbot, a PTA volunteer for over a decade at Lake Forest Park Elementary, Kellogg, and Shorecrest, as well as Council Vice-President for Legislation. Jim was actively involved in the recent school bond / levy campaign and continues his involvement with PTA at Shorecrest.

The Council Outstanding Advocate award went to longtime volunteer Sherry Marlin.  Starting her PTA career at Briarcrest, Kellogg, and Shorecrest, she was a Shoreline Council VP and President, Region 6 Team Leader / State PTA Board Member, and is currently finishing a two year term as the State PTA Treasurer.

Theodora Wright and her husband, Brian Patneaude, co-owners of Jersey's Restaurant at 1306 N 175th St, Shoreline, received the Shoreline PTA Council Outstanding Business Award. Cited was their friendly and cooperative attitude and willingness to help stage gatherings at their restaurant, even at the last minute.

The Outstanding Service award was given to Diane Hettrick for service to PTA and the greater community, starting at North City and Echo Lake, including Einstein PTA President, Legislative VP at Shorewood and Council, Region 6 Legislative Chair, secretary for the past two Levy / Bond committees and starting and running an online newsletter for Shoreline and Lake Forest Park - the ShorelineAreaNews.
