Shorecrest DECA teams competed at International Conference in Florida

Shorecrest DECA wrapped up the year at the 2018-19 International Career Development Conference in Orlando Florida April 27-30.

Emily Wray, Shorecrest DECA Advisor said that "Shorecrest DECA traveled with 11 students this year but had 16 qualify, a new high record since my time at Shorecrest!"

22,000 students from all over the world came to compete at ICDC.

Freshman team Matthew Gardiner and Andrew Miner placed in the Top 20 in Business Law and Ethics! Matthew Gardiner also received a special medal for his top test score.

Said Wray, "All students listed below competed and felt wonderful in their events! We really look forward to watching these students grow in college and for the freshmen team of Miner/Gardiner, we’re excited to see what next year holds for them!"

  • Lauren Payne - Financial Literacy Promotion Plan
  • Abbi Currah and Reed Adjibly - Learn and Earn Plan
  • Amanda Kagarabi and Jenna Tikalsky - Public Relations Plan
  • Madison Bolstad and Shayne Strey - Student Based Enterprise Operations
  • Matthew Gardiner and Andrew Miner - Business Law and Ethic Team Decision Making Role Play
  • Alana Pek-Boring - Thrive Academy - Community Service Campaign
There was down time at the Magic Kingdom for both
Shorecrest and Shorewood competitors

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Next year's conference will be held April 29 – May 2, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.
