Memorial Day Buddy Poppies support veterans

Sunday, May 19, 2019

Memorial Day is designated for remembering the military men and women who died for the United States while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard).

VFW Post 3348 will be accepting donations for Buddy Poppies at the Shoreline Fred Meyer 18325 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline 98133 on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, 2019.

A “Buddy” Poppy has become the true symbol honoring all those veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.

Since this is a fundraiser for our Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post, the donations cover our operating costs; however our members, in turn, choose to donate over 80% of the gross proceeds from this event to organizations that service veterans (see below).

Buddy Poppy: What do my donations support after I donate to VFW for a Buddy Poppy?
  • Helping veterans with their VA Claims
  • Helping veterans with PTSD get better
  • Veterans' housing (Compass Center) in Shoreline
  • VFW National Home for Children
  • WA Veterans Home in Port Orchard, WA
  • WA Soldiers Home in Orting, WA
  • USO Northwest (SeaTac)
  • Fisher House (Next to VA Hospital in Seattle)
  • Memorials honoring fallen veterans
