The basketball rule book says you only have to play five players at a time.

Shorewood's girls basketball coach Mark Haner took it literally Saturday night as his starting lineup played the whole game in the T-Birds' 46-30 win over rival Shorecrest in the Scots gym in Hoopapalooza 2017.

The five are Davi Borromeo, Ledia Musye, Bella Hotham, Katie Taylor, and Taryn Shelley. Shelley led all scorers with 20 points, and she was first to give credit to her teammates.

"Katie and Davi played controlled and were able to handle their pressure very well," said the WSU-bound senior center after the game.

"And Bella and Ledia worked hard down low and were scrappy on defense. Shorecrest is always tough, but it was a good win and I'm proud of my team".

Indeed, Taylor and Hotham were demons on the boards and defense, repeatedly stealing Scots' passes to the low post and blocking shots, holding the Scots far below their season average of 50 points.

In fact, with the Scots desperately trying to rally in the final quarter, SW held them to a single basket.

With the win, the T-Birds have thrown the WesCo 3A standings into a quagmire, with four teams (SW, SC, Snohomish, and Marysville-Getchell) tied for second place at 7-2, behind Lynnwood (9-0).
