Shorewood girls win District 1 Tennis Championship

The Shorewood girls tennis team won the District 1 team championship and qualified all of their tournament players for the WIAA State 3A Tennis Tournament May 27th and 28th in Kennewick, Washington.

Shasha Gaeth defeated her Mountlake Terrace opponent 6-0, 6-1 in a dominating championship final. Gaeth has an undefeated 21-0 record and did not lose a set.

Senior T-Birds Ellie Allen Hatch and Emily Wright placed second and lost in their final match to their Glacier Peak opponents.

Emily Wright completed her league season with an undefeated individual record of 16-0 playing singles and doubles.

Singles Championship
  • Sasha Gaeth, Shorewood def. Tina Liu, Mountlake Terrace 6-0, 6-1 (both to state)
  • Third/fourth place Marina Ciferri, Marysville Getchell def. Livia Markwart, Arlington 6-1, 6-3 (Ciferri to state)
Doubles Championship
  • Anna Sneesby-Marissa Johnson, Glacier Peak def. Ellie Allen-Hatch/ Emily Wright, Shorewood 6-2, 6-2 (both to state)
  • Third/fourth place Micah Flood-Issy Koehler, Glacier Peak def. Olivia Olson-Hailey Rehnfeldt, Edmonds-Woodway 6-2, 6-3 (Flood-Koehler to state)
