Shorewood tennis maintains perfect record but Shorecrest makes them work for it

The Shorewood boys tennis team completed an undefeated league season by beating cross town rival Shorecrest 4-3 in a hard fought, close match. The T-Birds won one of three singles matches after falling behind to the Scots when Shorecrest won the first three singles.

Freshman Gunnar Thorstenson won at number four singles to earn Shorewood a team point. The Thunderbirds swept all three doubles to save the win.

Leading the sweep in doubles were the number one team of senior Scott Park and junior Kyle Berquist.

Shorewood finished the season as WesCo South Champions with a 12-0 league record and 16-1 overall.

Shorewood plays their top two singles and top two doubles in next week's WesCo South sub district tournament October 21st and 22nd with match starting at 1pm at Glacier Peak high school.

The top four singles and doubles move on to play the top four from WesCo North in District 1 tournament at Jackson high school October 28th and 29th with matches starting at 1pm.

The top three singles and doubles from District 1 qualify for the WIAA state tennis tournament May 29th and 30th in Kennewick, Washington.
