Letter to the Editor: What George Piano Didn't Say About the LFP GovWatch Meeting

Thursday, May 2, 2013

To the Editor:

In reference to the April 27 letter to the editor from Mr. George Piano: The meeting was a Lake Forest Park Government Watch endorsement committee meeting to interview potential candidates for the LFP City Council.

Mr. George Piano and Mr. Chuck Paulsen insisted on attending the meeting. Neither gentlemen were members of the committee nor had they made an appointment for an interview, and when asked, they stated they were not candidates. As a result, they were asked to leave.

LFP Gov Watch was not aware of the library's open meeting policy. As soon as we were informed, I apologized to Mr. Piano and to Mr. Paulsen for any misunderstanding, and the committee immediately left the premises to hold our interviews elsewhere.

Lake Forest Park Government Watch, a nonpartisan citizen political action committee, offers all candidates who file for LFP City Council positions the opportunity to apply for endorsement by our organization. Candidates can call John Foy, chairman of the endorsement committee, at 206-363-5301 to schedule an individual interview by the committee.
