Flags at Half-Staff: Peace Officers Memorial & Capt. Blanchard

Governor Jay Inslee has directed that the flags at the Flag Circle and on the Temple of Justice will at half-staff on Friday, May 3, 2013 for the annual Medal of Honor and Peace Officers Memorial ceremony at the Law Enforcement Memorial on the Capitol Campus in Olympia.

Flags at all state facilities should be lowered on Friday and Saturday, May 4, 2013, in memory of U.S. Army Captain Aaron R. Blanchard, 32, of Selah, who died on April 23 in Afghanistan of injuries sustained from indirect fire.

Please notify your staff and all of your field offices and facilities around the state.

Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset/close of business on Saturday, May 4 or first thing Monday morning, May 6.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
