Echo Lake Neighborhood meeting on Tuesday to discuss traffic problems

It's safe to say that traffic issues- congested intersections, speeding traffic, pedestrian safety, delayed commutes- are just behind weather in the impact they have on our daily lives. With this in mind, transportation is again the theme for this month's meeting of the Echo Lake Neighborhood Association.  This time our focus will be on Shoreline transportation policies and neighborhood traffic concerns.

The City of Shoreline is in process of updating the Transportation Master Plan (TMP).  Per the city's website, the TMP helps guide how the City develops its Capital Improvement Program (CIP), coordinates transportation improvements with land uses and identifies what is needed to respond to growth. Even though the TMP is still a work in progress, Kirk McKinley, with Shoreline's Public Works Dept., will discuss the highlights of the updated plan.

Second on the agenda is John Marek, an Associate Traffic Engineer with the City of Shoreline. Three years ago, John led us through the process of formulating our Neighborhood Traffic Action Plan.  Since that time, changes in our neighborhood, such as the development at South Echo Lake and remodeled Sky Nursery, may have impacted traffic flow through our streets.

We'll have a chance to express any traffic concerns we have and John will have a chance to update the neighborhood on upcoming projects, such as the sidewalk that will be shortly be constructed on Ashworth Avenue. 

 

The boundaries of the Echo Lake Neighborhood of Shoreline are Aurora to I-5 and 205 to 185th.  All who live or work within this area are considered to be part of ELNA.
