Chicago opens in Magnussen Park Friday, November 12

Set in the Cook County Jail in the Roaring Twenties, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly vie for the full attention of the Press – and celebrity attorney Billy Flynn – as they prepare for two sensational murder trials.

Chicago is a rousing story of fame, corruption, fortune, manipulation and heartbreak … and all that jazz.

The vibrant musical Chicago (and all that jazz) will be staged by the Seattle Musical Theatre (formerly Civic Light Opera) November 12 to December 4 at their new home in Magnusson Park, 7210 62nd Ave NE, Seattle 98115.

Advantages of the location are easy and ample parking and a mid-sized theatre with good line of sight seating.

Significantly different from the 2002 movie, the musical version employs a distinctly presentational and more abstract theatrical style. Many of the scenes are set “in limbo” and Dan Suiter’s set design and costume designer Deane Middleton’s costumes evoke the glitzy yet gritty Art Deco inspired Chicago of the 1920’s.
