Flags at half-staff Wednesday

Monday, September 5, 2016

Governor Inslee is deeply saddened by the death of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Matthew V. Thompson, 28, of Irvine, California, and directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff in his memory on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

He died in Helmand Province, Afghanistan when an IED detonated near his dismounted patrol.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on September 7, 2016.

Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 1:30 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, Lacey, Washington.

Please call (360) 239-1317 if you have any questions about this flag lowering.
