Dr. Guy Hamilton

After a competitive search, Dr. Guy Hamilton has been named Dean of Science, Math, and Engineering at Shoreline Community College. Hamilton has been the Acting Dean since 2015.

"I am genuinely excited to be the Dean of Science, Math, Engineering, Clean Technology, and Manufacturing," said Hamilton. "As a tenured faculty member for twelve years, I have always considered myself fortunate to work at Shoreline with a fantastic group of colleagues who supported my growth as an instructor. I look forward to supporting them as a Dean to ensure that our students have the best opportunity for success."

Hamilton, who joined Shoreline’s faculty in 2003, holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oregon. In his time here, Hamilton has served on numerous boards and committees including Faculty Senate Council, College Council, and the Strategic Planning and Budget Council. He also held positions as Biotechnology Program Chair and Biology Program Chair.

Hamilton has been instrumental in bringing local high school students and instructors to Shoreline’s campus through Project Biotech Camps and the Amgen Biotech Experience. Hamilton also participated in planning the NSF ATE Dolan DNA Learning Center/Cold Spring Harbor “Genomic Approaches in Biotechnology” workshop, a professional development workshop for college and high school teachers.

“Guy has proven to be an invaluable part of our dean team here at Shoreline,” said President Cheryl Roberts, “and we are beyond thrilled that he will continue in a leadership role as dean of the Math, Sciences, and Engineering division. We can’t wait to see where his passion and dedication to students takes us.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the search process. Hamilton’s new role as Dean of Math, Sciences, and Engineering will take effect immediately.
